Full Bowls

by Jeannie E. Roberts

tossed penny efforts / thrown tokens / cast
crumbs / lobbed toward heap / hurled toward
sum / flung bits of sugar / slung scraps of cake
launched to assuage / pacify / abate / unleash
abundance / surrender veneer / offer compassion
reject fear / unmask emotion / shed worn-out
ways / relinquish control / embrace play / lean
toward unknowns / turn narratives around
notice things sideways / beneath / upside down
lift walls of silence / fill bowls rimmed in light
nourish / enliven / when day is done / hearten
tossed tokens / awaken thrown crumbs
