Early Twenties

by Stefania Camaci

I don’t feel sophisticated enough
to be ordering a cosmopolitan with my dinner,
I always worry about
the amount of gasoline left in my tank,
I feel underprepared
browsing internship openings,
I came to the realization
that I practiced my signature for checks
instead of autographs,
I bite my tongue when someone asks,
“And what do you plan to do with that degree?”
My younger self figured I’d be much more
mature and ready for the world by now,

it still feels decades away.
