Morning

by Heather Nanni

Tired she wakes
with great effort

to commit to
this day, this

living. Her children
still asleep, dreaming

lively dreams urging
their small, careless

bodies towards the
daylight. She prefers

moonlight. The silver
orbed body cooing

assurances in the
darkness, cradling the

world weary, who
long to drift

along oblivion’s cool
black sea, weightless

dispersed amongst stars
expanding into the

infinite space of
permanence and memory.

  1. Heather, this is beautiful! And, I relate so much to the love of the night, moon, and stars. Thank you!
