THE WAIT
by Lorraine Caputo
Shutting
up, shutting down...waiting...What lies in the future, what does the future
hold?
Wait…
patience…wait… for answers to come….
I haven’t written...I haven’t gathered...I haven’t walked, exploring the world around
me…..
Too much working over, trying to finish tasks, waiting, waiting for word….
Sun already edging the western horizon, too late to do tai chi on Ratonera….
Sit by the edge of the sea, watch the tide come, the tide go & come once
more…. again….
Sit in the darkness of night, watch the moon wax & wane & wax
Hide away in the worlds proffered by others, in books, poems, tales…..
& await word…
....

For me the great wait of the last few months has been answered. No longer evil at the helm of my country. Almost forgot how it feels to wake up happy.

ReplyDeleteHealing has begun!
yes, waiting can be hell...I'm doing it, and your words cushioned some of the pain...
ReplyDeleteTo me I envision some healing in the way you used your words. There is some unrest though in the way you described: "the tide come, the tide go," as if there is no absolute resolve, just the constant change. I enjoyed this poem.
