My esteemed professor of poetry (who also taught an excellent course on American War literature) explained some forty years ago that God created sex so that men would learn to fall in love with women. I've always suspected that something must have gone awry. Yesterday my husband explained: the thing that went wrong was that men fell in love with sex instead.
