Bosnian Woman

by Oonah V Joslin

Amitri! Amitri!
the woman sobbed.
Her child
her only son
whom she had loved
torn from her by a shell.
Her womb
and mind ripped
fragments
she could bear no more.
What God had given
was gone.
The world looked on.

The author notes: This was written years ago. The places change. The faces change. But war goes on.

Oonah V Joslin is an editor at The Linnet's Wings. Her book of poems Three Pounds of Cells was published in 2016.
